The Hotel Inspector Calls
July 16, 2010
While we sometimes despair at the real hotel inspectors and their lack of feel for the industry, Channel 5′s own Hotel Inspector soon publishes a book of her own hotel favourites.
The good news is that Alex Polizzi thinks both the Gurnard’s and the Griffin worthy of inclusion. With only 52 hotels in the book, that is something for our teams to be really proud of. It’s a glossy book, with some great photographs and an eclectic collection of hotels. On sale at the Gurnard’s from 6th August at £20.
Of the Gurnard’s, she says: “it is the antithesis to every pretentious bijou establishment that exists in this part of the world and I find it reassuring that it is so popular.” She goes on to write “the charming mutton-chop-whiskered, front-of-house brother has an enthusiasm about food and this part of the world that will inspire staff and guests to an equal degree”.
As far as the business is concerned, this kind of promotion has real value and is the kind that any hotel or restaurant owner should relish. An independent view from someone that people trust is worth 100 times the same amount of advertising with a local magazine or newspaper.
